Maddi's Fridge - Cover
Maddi's Fridge
Lois Brandt, Flashlight Press 2018

Sofia and Maddi are schoolmates and friends, taking turns being the leader in their active, energetic play. But one day, by accident, Sofia finds out that in Maddi's house the refrigerator is empty and there is not enough food for the family. Maddi insists Sofia promise that she won't tell, and Sofia tries to find food for her friend with little luck. Finally, breaking her promise, she tells her mom, who goes to visit Maddi's mom, bringing groceries and, equally important, bringing friendship and support. Maddi forgives Sofia for breaking her promise - sometimes people have to do that in order to be true friends. (Also available in Spanish: La nevera de Maddi)
